Irrigation
Irrigation systems provide a way to measure and regulate flow of water. This process allows water to be diverted from its source, and distributed to each field. Cooling can increase the quality and quantity of horticulture. Wet soil has many benefits. It can control wind erosion, allow for seeds to germinate quicker and allow for the use of fertilizers and pesticides to be wide spread. There are several was of applying irrigation water of farms or nurseries.
Water for an irrigation system must be diverted from the surface and ground waters. There are two ways this can occur. One of the most common types is by using gravity diversion when water sources are sufficient and bountiful. The other source is using pumps. The pumps are horizontally used with the surface of the water to extract the desired liquid.
Water is transported from the water source two different ways. Once is by open channels and the other is by pipelines. Open channels (lined or unlined) have a slope, to create a flow towards the designated area of crops. Channels depending on how they are created can be cheaper than pipeline. As in misting systems, piping is used to eliminate seepage and evaporative loss, avoid plant problems, and can be safer than exposed open channels.
There are a few different types of applications. One of the most common is the sprinkler application. This type of application can be found in neighborhoods, nurseries and farms. The sprinkler system allows for raindrop like water to “rain” over product. Sprinkle systems can permeate difficult areas, lands with combinations, having land that involves steep slopes, and terrain that cannot use a smooth system.
